Embodied in Dance
HANANOMIYAKO is a Kyoto-based dance group reimagining traditional Japanese culture for global stages.
Original music, storytelling choreography, and the timeless spirit of Japan — all in one unforgettable performance.

What is Hananomiyako
HANANOMIYAKO (彩ノ京, pronounced "Hana-no-Miyako") is a cultural performance team based in Kyoto, Japan, that creates and performs original Japanese-style dances inspired by the city’s rich heritage. Our shows blend traditional themes with modern creativity, offering a one-of-a-kind cultural experience for audiences in Japan and abroad.

What Kind of Dance?
The group performs in a style inspired by Yosakoi, a unique genre of dance that originated in Japan.
While Yosakoi typically combines energetic movements with colorful costumes and music, HANANOMIYAKO adds its own twist by:
-
Creating original music, choreography, and costumes
-
Telling stories inspired by Kyoto’s history and seasons
-
Using elegant, expressive movements that capture the beauty of Japanese tradition
Even if you've never heard of "Yosakoi" before, think of it as a fusion of a dance performance, cultural storytelling, and a visual art piece.
Available for performances at festivals, events, and cultural gatherings.
